Opening hours and keeper talks
The sanctuary is open every day from 9 am to 5 pm. On Christmas Day it closes earlier, at 4 pm. A general visit does not need a booking.
Keeper talks run daily at 10:00, 11:30, 13:30 and 15:30. They are part of general entry. The entry price also includes food for the Forester kangaroos, so you can feed them under the sanctuary's supervision. That is a controlled feeding inside a sanctuary. It is not a reason to feed wild animals anywhere else.
If you want to catch more than one talk, plan to be there by late morning. Which animals you meet depends on the animals the keepers are caring for that day, so no particular encounter or touch is promised.
The night tour
A shared guided tour after general hours.
Length and start time
The tour takes 2.5 hours. The start time depends on the season and falls between 5:15 pm and 6 pm. Check the exact start for your date when you book.
Price in 2026
Adults aged 16 and over pay A$174.50. Children aged 3 to 15 pay A$87.50 and children under 3 are free. General entry is included, so you do not pay for it twice.
Age rule
Anyone under 16 must come with a full-paying adult.
Transport
A transfer can be arranged with the sanctuary. Ask the sanctuary for the transfer price when you book.

Wild animals outside a sanctuary
Elsewhere in Tasmania you will see wildlife on roads, tracks and beaches. The park authority asks visitors to keep at least 2 m away from wild animals and not to feed them. Between dusk and dawn, drive slowly because animals cross roads then.
The rules apply on Maria Island, in Mount Field National Park and anywhere else outside a sanctuary. A sanctuary visit is the place for close, supervised contact. A national park is not.
